Practical handbook on receivables management: professional tips for consultation
Mr Blaffert, you reissued the Practical Handbook on Receivables Management in 2023, what was your motivation?
We have endeavoured to condense the experience gained from many years of receivables management in the energy sector into a handbook that enables readers and users to quickly and easily find targeted help with all issues from delivery blocking to compulsory enforcement. All topics relating to judicial and extrajudicial receivables management are discussed, and many specifics from basic supply to legally compliant online contract conclusion are highlighted. Topics such as service provider management and arbitration proceedings have also found a new place in our joint work. Many colleagues from the most diverse areas of the energy industry have contributed as authors and published their many years of specialised knowledge. We, as editors, ensure that the work is continuously growing and updated.
Mr Blaffert, what changes can the reader expect in terms of content? What has changed?
The new edition of the Practical Handbook is no longer a legal reference work - by lawyers for lawyers. Rather, it is intended to provide those seeking advice with quick and practical help in their day-to-day business. With real practical examples and many new graphics and, above all, a large number of sample texts, the new work has become practical and much more user-friendly.
However, the "professional tips" do not neglect special features and current case law, even for legal advisors and "full professionals". In addition, the new edition is less expensive, so that the new complete work will be available to a much wider audience in the future.
Mr Blaffert, who is the book aimed at? Who is it suitable for?
Not a classic evening read - but, in our opinion, a good reference work for all employees of energy suppliers and network operators and for all those who have points of contact with receivables management in the energy industry. The book is therefore primarily aimed at those whose job it is to deal with outstanding customer receivables. However, the process manual also contains chapters that examine receivables management in its entirety, from the legally compliant onboarding of household and commercial customers to the processing of customer objections. The book also provides in-depth insights into the special features of the energy industry, such as those resulting from the GVVs and the EnWG, so that even legally minded readers will get their money's worth thanks to the large number of previously unpublished industry-specific judgements and recurring "professional tips".
